What are the signs that it may be time for daytime support?
Recognizing when a loved one needs extra daytime support can be difficult. Often, families wait until they’re feeling overwhelmed — but early support can make a world of difference for both caregivers and older adults. Here are some common signs it may be time to explore Adult Day Health services:
Changes in daily routines
Difficulty bathing, dressing, toileting, or preparing meals
Missed medications or confusion about dosages
Trouble managing household tasks, finances, or appointments
Increased safety concerns
Frequent falls or balance issues
Wandering, confusion, or getting lost
Leaving the stove on, doors unlocked, or appliances running
Memory loss or cognitive changes
Increased forgetfulness or confusion
Repeating questions or stories
Difficulty following conversations or instructions
Social isolation and loneliness
Spending most of the day alone
Loss of interest in activities once enjoyed
Signs of depression, anxiety, or withdrawal
Physical or health changes
Declining mobility or strength
Chronic conditions that need monitoring
Fatigue, poor nutrition, or weight loss
Caregiver stress or burnout
Feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or emotionally drained
Struggling to balance caregiving with work, family, or personal health
Worry about leaving a loved one home alone during the day
If you recognize one or more of these signs, Adult Day Health can provide a safe, supportive environment that offers medical oversight, engaging activities, social connection, and peace of mind — all while allowing your loved one to continue living at home.
You don’t have to navigate this alone. LIFE Senior Services is here to help families find the right level of support, at the right time.
