LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• Compare two screening tools for assessing cognitive level and capacity.

• Describe three behaviors indicative of dementia and cognitive decline.

• Discuss two effective techniques for reducing distress, encouraging acceptance of

assistance, and improving outcomes.

• Define person-first language.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

• LCSW/MSW, LPC/LMFT, Long-Term Care Administrators, Home Care Administrators,

Case Managers, and anyone working with older adults

• Community responders - police, fire, EMSA, DVIS, Adult Protective Services, etc.
